Chas Torrence Joins AGC Board of Directors

Chas Torrence, Executive Vice President of the southeast office at EMJ Construction, recently joined the Board of Directors for the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of East Tennessee.

AGC of East Tennessee is the leading advocate, educator, supporter, and connection point for construction industry professionals throughout East Tennessee, representing 230 member firms across 22 counties in Tennessee.

Members of the Board of Directors generously volunteer their time to oversee the strategic direction of the organization.  Board members are elected by General Contractor member firms and each member serves a 3-year term and may be re-elected.

“I am excited and honored to be joining the Board of Directors for AGC of East Tennessee. Being a part of the community and advocating for our young industry professionals is key for enabling the construction industry to continue to thrive,” says Torrence.

In addition to serving in his newly appointed role on the Board of Directors, Chas oversees and directs the day-to-day operations of EMJ’s southeast office. His nearly 20 years of construction experience in a variety of roles, including estimator, project manager and construction manager, serve as a valuable resource to all aspects of the company’s operations.

Chas earned a bachelor’s degree in construction science and management from Clemson University, and in 2017, he was named both a Top Young Professional by Engineering News-Record and among the International Council of Shopping Centers’ Top 40 Under 40.

Chas also serves on the Board of Directors for the ACE Mentor Program of Chattanooga.
