The development near Alamo Drafthouse is the latest project in the Montecillo smart-growth community that began about a decade ago and includes hundreds of homes, apartments and retail space. It’s the first development to follow the city’s Smart Code—a type of development aimed at reducing sprawl and generally involves development that is vertical, packing more into a smaller space, and designs where schools, shopping and public transportation are within walking distance of homes and apartments.
This dynamic and carefully planned site works with the natural topography. Upon completion, Montecillo Town Center, Lots C and D, will feature six-story, two-level cast-in-place podiums with 20,000 square feet of retail on the bottom and four levels of wood-frame residential above. The first of its kind in El Paso and located in the heart of the community, Montecillo Town Center will include cafes, restaurants, and shopping within beautiful residential and commercial buildings.
