Brookfield Mall Renovation

Overview

The Brookfield Mall renovation project in Brookfield, Wis., revitalizes a 1960s-era regional mall. This effort includes upgrading the mall’s exterior with the addition of new outward-facing retailers and restaurants and using over-sized service courts as opportunities to improve the mall’s façade with upscale restaurants such as Mitchell’s Fish Market and Bravo Cucina Italiana. Underused yet highly visible portions of the mall’s parking area attract new tenants to the Brookfield market. Momentum created by Barnes & Noble and other new tenants in the mall’s east elevation gave way to its next stage in redevelopment. A grand entrance with a porte-cochere helps complete the exterior upgrade. Improvements inside the mall include adding warm colors and providing visitors with comfortable amenities for an inviting experience. Decorative lighting and wood panels add details to ceilings, while floor finishes, large format tiling, and cultured stone give the project a new palette of texture and materials. Big ticket items such as plasma screen televisions further liven concourses and punctuate the mall’s new look. A new fireplace in the food court and a water feature in the center court area garner visual interest and opportunities for interaction.
